Thanks for the link to that clip.I must admit that i have stopped watching question time, as i am getting quite fed up with politicians repeating their same old entrenched opinions, and who cannot move from, what appears to me, to be a mentality that it is only they and their party that matter. The electorate can go to hell, it seems.Going back to the question of policing. This government have hit the police with massive cuts, and altered their terms of service. They are also introducing political influence into its overseeing. It's a wonder that more are not packing the job in.I do know that morale is at it's lowest since the seventies, when many of my colleagues packed in.Then the issue was pay.Now it seems it is the relentless pressure of trying to do a job with less and less staff, and yet having more and more work the homepage here thrust upon them.I wonder how the met.And city of london forces are coping with the amount of cases that are being handed to them?I'm sorry that politics is at the forefront of my argument again, but until the politicians stop treating all and sundry as if they do not matter then the country will continue to sink deeper into desperation.Crime and policing is just one thing we are justly moaning about. It seems they have split the country into what they call 'shirkers and strivers', and even some of their own supporters are being described in horrible and derogatory terms.I am thinking of the recent press coverage of the alleged comments regarding"Swivel eyed loons"We need more police on the streets, not less.In my opinion police and crime commissioners are a waste of money. Most of them are resting politicians who know little about what policing entails. They should be reminded that there is only one office in law that they should be concerned with, and that is the 'office of constable'.If anything moved it was checked. Those were really the 'good old days'.Chubbychops01 suggestion there are not enough cctv cameras is almost laughable if the implications were not so serious.Police budgets cut, whilst the police and crime commissioners all over the country appear to be spending on building their own empires, with many of them employing assistants at great expense.Surely this was not how it should be.The police have become more politicised than they have ever been.In my days on the beat every property in the town centre was checked several times a night, and if anything was found amiss the following day there would be questions to answer for the officers concerned.I'm afraid we get what we pay for.Policing has always been starved of money no matter which party is in power, but increasingly so with the current government. With the increasing demand on police commitments things can only get worse.
